Things need to know before you go to Ankor City

"Buy Angkor Pass"
We need to buy an Angkor pass to visit every ancient Angkor place. The exact price can be checked on their website. They always check at the entrance of every special place.

"Dos and Don'ts"

  • Pay respect to the monks if you see them in Angkor City.
  • Dress Appropriately & Keep Your Modesty. Especially, women can wear skirts and trousers but they will not be shorter than their knee level.
  • Avoid touching the temples and cravings

"Bargain"

You must consider that all prices are not fixed price. They always say more, maybe a half of two-thirds sometimes, than the actual price. Remember to bargain every time you buy something.

"Good time to take the best Pictures"

It is very difficult to get sunset photos at the Ankor because all attraction places close at 5:30pm every day. Moreover, it needs to wake up early to get a Sunrise photo. If you are later than 5-6am in the morning, the best places are fully occupied with many photographers.

"Return Hotel"

We need to leave the heritage sites no later than 5:30pm, therefore, we can face the traffic jams on the way back. As the entrance gate is too narrow to pass two cars, we all need to wait for our turn patiently.

If you have a plan to travel to other places or if you need to go back to your country on that day, you better leave earlier than 5pm. It will save your trip.

According to my experience, we worried about missing the bus to go to Ho Chi Minh because of the traffic Jam. Unfortunately, every road was bustling as there was a special festival on that day. Our driver was very helpful, so he tried to contact the bus and explain thoroughly to wait for us in their local language.

At that time, seeing the traffic jams and my watch, I worried too much but I found one thing to credit concerning with the Cambodian mindset. They are very patient even in the tight traffic situation. They never used horns and no hurry to pass each other. I felt like they were quite peaceful, patient and disciplined.

Please make sure that our environment is not destroyed by our actions.
