Singapore to Cameron Highland

People who work in Singapore, both citizens and pass holders, always find an escape way from Singapore for refreshments if there’s a long holiday in the business calendar. As the bustling city makes them exhausted sometimes, making short trips helps to restart their energy.
This time, as we have three continuous holidays, we plan to go to Cameron Highland, a remote town on the mountain in Malaysia while others also go to the nearest Indonesia Islands.
Cameron Highland has cool weather, always maintaining 18 degrees Celsius, as well as a stunning landscape; therefore it is one of the best places for someone who needs to release stress and anxiety like us.
Now I’m going to share with you how to plan our trip so that you can inspire for your next trip.

Transport

Even though there are flights from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, we choose to go by bus as we don’t need to change any transportation in Malaysia.  Firstly, we went to Golden Mile to start our journey as we bought tickets earlier online. It’s a quite reasonable price, costing approximately SGD60 for two ways. Using a direct bus takes about 8 hours from Singapore to Cameron Highland. (The price may vary as per season)

Visa

Although Singaporeans and other specific citizens will not need Malaysia Visa, we Myanmar citizens still need valid visas to enter Malaysia. However, applying visa is not complicated as you can apply via online or find a visa specialist to help you.

The important thing you must care about is that you must have
  • Passport Validation for at least 6 months
  • A valid Pass in Singapore (Student pass, Spass, EP, etc) for at least 1 year.
The Visa Fee is only SGD 30 and will add S$20 more if you find an assistant like an agent.
When your passport returns with a valid visa, don’t forget to check the valid date, the last day they allow you to enter Malaysia. If you get 1 year visa, you can enter several times within a year as it is a multiple visa.

Hotel

For us, the Copthorne Hotel is very convenient as all buses stop at the hotel and pick up passengers right at the doorstep. Besides, most of the attractions places to visit are nearby even if we can walk down there. We regretted hiring a taxi for the first day because we didn’t know how far away.

Nevertheless, there are many hotels with facilities and they are available to check accommodation websites such as Agoda and AirBnB.

Attraction Points

  1. Strawberry Farm
There are plenty of Strawberry farms and we found two at the hotel entryway. Even though it is free to enter the farm, we need to pay some money if we want to pick the fresh Strawberries. As Strawberry is their trademark, various products extracted from Strawberry are sold attractively.

  1. Ee Feng Gu Bee Farm
An attractive garden with Instagram sports decorating colourful flowers; however, their main attraction is to present Apiculture. A short walk from the Hotel. The entry fee must be paid.

  1. Butterfly Farm
A live display of butterflies and insects is located close to Bee Farm. Many native creatures and unique species are well kept in this garden. The entry fee must be paid as well.

  1. Orchid Garden
It is just behind the butterfly garden planting various orchids. The entrance fee must be paid.

  1. Lavender Garden
It is a little bit far away from others as well as it is the biggest attraction with several photo shooting points. It also has a huge Lavender farm; it is a respectable cultivation in this town. Additionally, colourful flower farms are growing side by side. You can find various decorations matching with the garden.

  1. Cactus Point
I never think before that there are such a lot of cactus species. OMG! These are so cute. Several grown plants and seeds are available to buy.

  1. BOH Tea plantation
This is the one you should never skip if you are trying to escape from city life and find the fresh air set with a natural landscape. But it is quite far from the town. You must take a bus or a private car. If you want to go there in high season, remember to book to hire a private van or to buy local group tours earlier.

Food

I don’t think there is some specific traditional meal different from other places (I mean Singapore and Malaysia) but every food is significantly cheaper than Singapore. You can taste the fresh vegetables entering the vegetable farms without paying any fees. From my experience, I recommend trying to eat fresh corn. It is the sweetest that I have ever eaten before and quite wonder as I don’t get the strange smell without even cooking.

Gift or Souvenir

Apart from Chocolates and Strawberries, no wonder that many fresh Vegetables and foods are a sort of souvenir of an agricultural land.

Ta-da!! I hope you get some useful ideas for the next holidays.

Please make sure that our environment is not destroyed by our actions.
