The Post Office in Ho Chi Minh
Some people who fall in love with the high-end architecture cannot expect to find wonderful Cityscapes. Conversely, some individuals who like to relax in nature will not be satisfied. However, the most interesting part of Ho Chi Minh is the ancient architecture left by the French colony.
There are many Churches and Chapels with several designs and facilities, and they are quite flamboyant. Among them, one of the buildings attracts me with its function. It is none other than the Post Office.
Bringing to the previous century
Normally, the Post Office's look is simple but it brought me to a specific time in history. Its design was influenced by French architecture mixed with Gothic and Renaissance.
When I entered the post office, I felt like time travelling; thinking about people and living style in the colony period, the feeling of classic and nostalgia came into my mind. I imagined how they lived in this era and how to connect with others.
I believe that it is because they maintain original designs and cultures as before.
Interior Design
As they constructed the high ceiling with arcs, the space seemed wider and freedom. Additionally, that ceiling structure is related to the entrance door and windows. Due to harmonious design, the ceiling became the glory of the building.
One Function still alive in the present
Posting mail is crucial during the world war, and even after the war before the age of the smartphone.
They display an old telephone booth together with old-fashioned phones and chairs. Providing their history showing at some areas of the building, they allow guests to understand ancient living styles.
Among them, there is a function which makes people fall in love. It is a service to post to someone we love who lives in a different place. They are selling postcards illustrating the beauty of Vietnam with art. We can also find creative origami designs. After buying a postcard, we can send it to our loved ones directly through their post mail service. How delightful moment!
I really respect the idea brought to a sort of tourist attraction from old-fashioned post service.
I recommend everybody who has a plan to go to Ho Chi Minh City to go to their post office because its architecture and wonderful service make you a great memory during the trip.
